“I’m free!”

The 'me' who claims to be free is just a caged concept ...

 .

as soon as freedom is claimed

infinite potential has been abandoned

.

as soon as happiness is claimed

the joy that’s causeless has been abandoned

.

as soon as awakening is claimed

natural wideawakeness has been abandoned

.

if you want to be free

{{{ unconditionally }}}

try abandoning the mirage of ‘me’

The wonderful cartoon comes from Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo on Facebook

the chooser is a cartoon character

289

Apparently the Buddha said

The Great Way is not difficult, only avoid choosing.

The difficulty isn’t in the choosing or the not-choosing.
It’s in the notion that a separate *chooser* entity exists.

But choices arise spontaneously and choices are made spontaneously.

Assuming the existence of one-who- chooses,
when such an entity cannot be found,
creates the pits and potholes on the Way.

Believe in a self that can choose,
or a self that cannot choose,
and you’ll find the Way impossibly fraught.

The only way I found to “avoid choosing” was to track down the chooser.  At some point on this hunt, I found that the chooser is a clever cartoon character dreamed up by a team of  very creative fellow cartoon characters – the merry members of the local Think Tank.  When they were seen for what they are, they shuffled back into the cartoon.

The naked light of Awareness that KNEW all this merriment turned out to be incapable of ever making a choice, yet it never fails to get everything exactly right!

the revelation of wideawakeness

157

if this wideawakeness fails to erase the dream
of personal doer-ship, you’re still dozing
if it fails to erase the concept
of separate self, you’re still dreaming
if it fails to erase the assumption
of a solid, objective, real world
(ie time and space)
you’re still fantasizing

this is what wideawakeness reveals:
no-thing … Life-ing …
in the boundless non-temporal womb of Creation,
totally nourished and supported
by ITs Light and Grace

who will pay the price?

138

To be in a position where you can do what you truly love, when you wish, and how;
where you can be the being you intuit yourself to be, and long to express;
where clarity and contentment are unwavering states of mind
– isn’t this the core longing of every human being?
Isn’t this what most people would call freedom?

Yet who will pay the price?  The utter, total relinquishment of everything they think about themselves and their life – all those precious stories, all those achievements and injustices, all those dreams of a glorious future …

She-who-scribbles wouldn’t, couldn’t.  She was heavily invested in her self-construct.  But the longing was so intense that Life took the matter into ITs own hands and set up a scenario that by-passed gentle relinquishment.  IT simply put her in circumstances where everything was wiped out without her having any choice in the matter.

What unspeakable Grace!

what’s the big deal about bad habits?

122

habit = conditioned, repeated, mechanical action

who has them?
no entity here to own anything

how can they be changed then, or controlled?
can’t

what to do?
enjoy

heresy!
hairy who?

The addictive notion of ‘me’ and ‘mine’ is the only habit that’s really interesting – and then only until it hits home that habits are nothing to do with what we actually are which is:

IT-expressing-IT-ness-in-whatever-is
(which includes the whole kit and caboodle, even those pesky ‘bad’ habits!)

Look very closely and you’ll find
that the Knowingness of every experience, addictive or not
is never affected for an instant.

And astonishingly, a side-effect of that in-sight
is that  the “conditioned, repeated, mechanical action”
one was identified with
ceases to be an issue.

So what’s the big deal about habits?

For new visitors to this blog, IT refers to that which cannot be named, but which we never tire of labeling:  life, aliveness, god, spirit, awareness, beloved, divinity, noumenon and on and on . . .

IT, again

58

more ‘IT’ musings this morning – such a rich little word!

IT

apperception of IT
cancels the ‘I’
that you took yourself to be
with one small stroke

now that ‘I’ looks like a ‘T’

so, the I and the T come together: IT
and that’s exactly what we be!

this is the meaning of the cross of cruci-fiction:
no further personal fiction

only IT: now, just this, and right here
