on “spiritual inquiry” – be warned

if you endlessly ponder

your seeming lack of enlightenment

(the proof of;  the reasons for;  the need to overcome)

your life appears to be unenlightened

and is experienced accordingly

if, for one instant, you stop your pondering

the Real is found to be already and always there

(luminous;  changeless;  already perfect)

and your life, in that instant, IS enlightenment

and is experienced accordingly

you don’t need to seek or strive or supplicate

you don’t even need to understand or accept or believe

you just need to slow down

get really quiet

and stop

how cool is that?

please don’t lie to me

Echoes from Emptiness: Please don't lie to me....

please

don’t tell me you don’t know
exactly WHAT you are

(that you ARE the peace and sweet release
you seek)

. . .

I know you’ve looked;
you’ve seen, you’ve conceded
that
– nothing you know
–  nothing you think
–  nothing you feel
– nothing you remember
– nothing you experience
can be what you are

since

– all these phenomena
–  all these perceptions
– all these peculiarities

come and go

yet

your bright alive Knowingness remains

. . .

Beloved – even your pain
your suffering, your grief,
rise and fall –
you’ve seen how they wither
(along with your hubris)
when you drop out of your story
and into mind-fucking
immeasurable
timelessness
that never changes

don’t tell me you haven’t yet fallen
back/forward/down/across/into
THIS
that can’t be known
or experienced

don’t lie to me, Beloved

I don’t believe you

. . .

just call me … d e s t i n y

again, the rain
the huge trees softly shrouded
music dripping, sloshing, trickling
mozzies incarnating for the bite of a lifetime
mold and mustiness and mushrooms:
the sublime suchness of the rainforest

If one has to have a name, why not ‘Destiny’?  All the billions of apparently individual persons existing in the phenomenal world are but one power, one Life-energy moving through Life-patterns determined by destiny.

Some call destiny ‘God’s Will,’ others refer to ‘Cosmic Law’.  Destiny is the simply the unfolding of circumstances according to genetics, structure, environment and experience, all powered by Life’s natural impulse to move, to grow, to unfold and expand.

Destiny is a picture too vast to be comprehended by this miniscule thought-bubble called me, yet it is none other than mySelf in motion.

an astonishing oversight

264

everything one is aware of
– every one of those “ten thousand things” –
gets one’s attention

everything except Awareness ITself

isn’t that incredible?

 .

What if all those ups and downs in The Grace Game (aka Snakes and Ladders) were the play of Awareness awareing ITself?  What if they were immaculately and uniquely designed moves solely intended to wake the wee-me from its dream of being an independent player?  What if there was no competition involved and the finishing point was actually the beginning of a new Game, one where the player now realizes that there’s only One Player and that the board, the dice (aka ‘chance’), the player and all those experiences – the good the bad and the ugly – are IT?

rapture is not an experience

260

The weird thing about rapture is that it can’t be called an experience; it’s the absence of an experiencer.  It can’t be recalled, although in retrospect there’s a sense that Awareness has been simply awareing Itself.  It has to be the ultimate relaxation.  Perhaps it’s the natural state of Being-ness.

Joseph Campbell spoke about finding the still point within where commitment falls away.  But I think it’s impossible to find the still point.  I found that when the seeker of the still point gives up the search

IT finds you

The still point is like a magnet: IT draws you to ITself.  And once that magnetic beam has you in its pull, all that you thought you were disappears.  Like into a wormhole.  Like into another version of the universe.

even emptiness is empty

223

Oh dear.

Just when you had it figured out – the riddle about form and emptiness – just when you had Emptiness nailed, labeled and pigeon-holed, along comes another neti-neti.  It turns out Emptiness is also empty.  How so?

It has no independent existence.  It’s not a place, a form, a state, a fundamental arrival zone.  It has no reality apart from the presence of the absence it connotes.

If it had a form or location – if it could be experienced – it would have to have a subject experiencing it.  What would that subject be?

So forget Emptiness as some kind of ultimate Reality.  There is only, only, only this timeless unfolding, interweaving, interrelating Everythingness.

But before mind kicks in and gives Everythingness the Emptiness treatment, don’t forget that it, too, is …

well,

empty.
