with great respect to Camus,
the “great journey of man”
is to discover the one
great question
that stops thinking in its tracks
and unfolds the heart
in the pattern of its natural flowering
without number are the guises
of the one great question,
but like a magnet
it draws you into its field
what is the one great question
– the answer to which
would change everything for you?

This phrase is fabulous “unfolds the heart in the pattern of its natural flowering” … just beautiful.
Question? Answer? Dunno. I like knowing that I don’t know … which is what I blogged about this morning! LOL
I do too. My question turned out to have a lot to do with what it might be like to live without answers – to live life as a big question-mark on very small feet!
Love your blog Darla 🙂

“…without number are the guises of the one great question – but like a magnet it draws you into its field.” And how beautiful that “the Beloved” draws us in and reveals ItSelf in ways that we can hear and understand… that open us to see “the answer”… And sometimes, as Rilke says, we have to “live the questions”, in the place of unknowing, waiting in the great field of Silence until ‘the Beloved” speaks…
In Silence of the Heart – Christine
Thanks for your beautiful words dear Christine. I’m finding it so interesting to revisit these ‘echoes’ after seven years. My languaging is different now, but the content is consistent and always amazes me. And I love that ‘others’ have ‘the ears’ to catch the echoes as well!

Who/what really am ‘I’?
Yes. No matter who’s asking, the (unspeakable) answer to this will change everything.
Thanks for sharing your wisdom Martin!
